Fabric Friday: Meadow

andpins_fabric_Meadow

Happy Friday! This stack of beauties is destined to be my Meadow Quilt from Lizzy House’s pattern. I took her workshop with the Philly MQG two weeks ago and learned so much. Lizzy is a great teacher and a down to earth person. I am excited to hear her lecture next week.

I pulled my fabric stack two days before my workshop picking up the green Grove by Alison Glass for the background and lime American Made Brand solid for the petal centers from my local quilt shop on my way home from work. I knew that I wanted to do solid petals so I pulled my stash of Essex Yarn Dyed Linen which includes black, charcoal, and gray. My center field will be all low volume. I was pretty happy with my pull of 17 fabrics and I added one from Becky’s stash during the workshop. It contains a lot of Carolyn Friedlander, some Cotton + Steel Basics, a Jessica Levitt, and some other unknowns from my stash.

I am looking forward to clearing my to do list over the next few weeks so I can get started on this one.

Plus No. 4 Organized Chaos

It’s Friday, the last day of a very long week, a long couple of weeks to be exact. I am so excited to share how this stack of fabric finished into a quilt. It was delivered on Wednesday and the new owner is thrilled. I love being able to surprise people with quilts – it makes the entire process that much more fun!

Here is Plus No. 4 Organized Chaos. My husband did the fabric pull based on the center Go Go London plus and helped me cut the fabric. It was a true collaborative effort, one that I hope to do again soon.

The fabulous quilting was done by my friend Amalia! I told her to have fun and quilt it however she wanted – I am blown away by it. The photo above was taken prewash, the quilt has even more texture now.

I am happy to say that with the exception of the binding, the entire quilt came out of my stash, a first!

Fabric Bins

Annually the Philadelphia MQG hosts a secret santa/elfster swap that is scheduled for our January meeting. Last year it happened as scheduled, this year not so much. I was all ready to take the trip to Philadelphia so I could partake in the fun, but Mother Nature had other plans…two months in a row. They finally exchanged gifts yesterday night so I wanted to show off what I made for Angie.

She requested fabric baskets to help organize her sewing room and I did a bit of snooping to find out that she liked teal/aqua. I used this tutorial from Haberdashery Fun and used Mousy Mouse from Catnap by Lizzy House, teal Garden Pindot from Michael Miller, and Orange Grid from Citrus by Another Point of View. Bonus, all of the fabric came out of my stash.

To round out the gift, I paired it with a sketchbook and a fresh set of colored pencils – two items I do not think I could quilt without.
