Optical Illusions

Welcome to the blog hop party for Optical Illusions Innovative Designs for the Modern Quilter! I was asked to participate by the lovely Tia Curtis who’s quilt Tropical Storm is one of nine fantastic quilt designs!

opticalillusions-cover1 copy

Tia’s was inspired by an illusion she found online but decided to simplify it so she would not have a headache the entire time she worked on it. The result is a gorgeous half square triangle quilt with a few fun pops of color.

CurtisI’m going to be a book nerd and gush about how lovely the cover of this book feels under the fingertips! It is made out of a beautiful matte cover stock and feels great in the hands.

Do yourself a favor and check out Tia’s site, I am in love with her quilting, this one is beautiful! If I ever get our bed quilt pieced, I think I am going to send it to Tia with very little directions. Tia has generously given me a Cotton + Steel fat quarter bundle to give away to one lucky reader to celebrate Optical Illusions release! Giveaway is now closed. Thank you to everyone who participated! I enjoyed reading your sources for inspiration.

Curtis_Cotton+SteelBundle

Thank you, Tia! I’m making it simple this time, no Rafflecopter to sign in to or anything else. Just leave me a comment telling me what has been inspiring you lately. The giveaway will be closing on Sunday, November 16th at 9pm EST and I’ll give Mr. Random the honor of picking the winner. I’m looking forward to being inspired by your inspiration.

Congratulations to the winner, Mary D. who said, “I have several pieces of fabric in stash and find now that I want to upgrade my stash with new prints and colors. I have been all over blog world looking for inspiration to use up my older stash. In the process more fabric pieces have found their way into my stash. Will there ever be enough time to pet, feel and use it all?” Mary, look for an email from me soon.

Check out the rest of the blog hop for chances to win some great giveaways!

My stash is my inspiration these days. I must tame it. I am trying very hard to direct all my attention to the task by looking for inspiration there. So far it is working. Thanks for offering a giveaway.

Cleaning out my stash of fabric. I keep saying I don’t have any, or not enough solids. So cleaning it out opened up my eyes that I need more and got on line to shop, visited two local quilt shops and made purchases. I also won Two pattern books on recent blog tours so I inspired by at least 3 designs in each. Really the inspiration comes from the designer herself. Our weather here is still in the 70’s so it’s hard to stay inside to quilt but the cold air is shifting our way, inspiring me to stay inside to cut and piece. Thank you for sharing Tia’s quilting, yes indeed it’s beautiful!

I’ve been inspired by a trip to the floss aisle of my local Joann’s. I picked up several colors that were just to wonderful to resist and then went to my LQS and went shopping.

Needing Christmas presents is inspiring me right now! I’ve made my list and put tentative completion dates by each item, hoping to have more than fabric and promises under the tree this year! Thx for the chance to win some of that gorgeous fabric! I find this new book, Optical Illusions, to be very inspirational, also – it’s on my Xmas list!

I’m a relatively newbie quilter and to this point I’ve only been following patterns. I’m starting to design my own quilts (nothing even remotely close to being ready to cut), but I’m finding so much inspiration in my Philly Modern Quilt Guild friends. After meetings, it’s like my mind is just blown by their creativity. I’m just soaking it all up!
